I'm quite surprised but I don't see many picks for f**k**g Sonar Here I'm thinking why on earth wouldn't someone pick the greatest sounding drums on the planet right now? Perfect example, pick up some recent vital techtones with Steve Smith and you can hear how great his drums sound and hes been using Sonars for quite a many year. Even their "lower priced" kits sound f**k**g leathal. Although I'm have a broad range in infuences and style of music their drums suit every need. So Here's my list in order: 1) Sonar 2) Pearl 3) Tama 4) Ludwig 5) Mapex

My first set was an old Pearl Vari-sonic from the seventies. My next set was an old Premier kit from the sixties. But eventually it came time to get a new/contemporary set of drums. That's the sound I wanted, and they're so much easier to live with. The best drums I found, and also for the best price, was a brand new Pearl Masters Custom Retrospec kit in Royal Gold. I hit TONS of drums and I liked the Pearls the best. In the end I think it really does come down to sound, and I like the Pearls the best. I've had GREAT times with those drums in the past two years. Recording, giging, practicing, you name it. But ultimately what it comes down to is what YOU like to hear.
